My Journey to here…

It is very hard for me to condense but I will give it a try ~

February 2010:  I’m in so much pain, my shoulders, elbows and wrists hurt so bad I have trouble opening cans, sleeping, picking up my coffee mug.  Walking is a special agony, my knees and hips hurt. When at rest and my feet relax, my ankles hurt to stand on them.  I’m gaining weight like crazy; because I cannot do anything without pain, not even sleep. My doctor says I have Rheumatoid Arthritis.  I will get used to the pain and it won’t be so bad when the weather warms.  Now keep in mind I am on certain medications for high cholesterol and osteopenia.  ( I have been on some statin drug for that last 25 years.) Lipitor, Tricor, Protonix, Fosamax, arthritis strength Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the Joint and muscle pain.  I am so miserable, I don’t want to move, but I push on, walking the dog is as much exercise as I can handle.  At this point he is not happy with my cholesterol numbers and increases my Lipitor dose.

At this point I called my Orthopedic Surgeon and made an appointment to have my knees looked at.  I had a torn ACL some 15 years ago, so I thought maybe he could help me.  They took x-rays of both knees and low and behold, I don’t have arthritis in either knee.  Okay now what?

By now it is July and warm, I still hurt all over and get no relief from the Tylenol or Ibuprofen.  I only figured this out after taking them for five months I forgot to take them and guess what?  Yep, still in the same amount of pain.  They were not helping at all.

A friend of mine suggested I try going to a Reiki practitioner.  A what???  What is Reiki?  Well I start researching again.  Reiki is a form of gentle, hands on healing.  Okay I’m game.  Give me a name.  I call and leave a message.

I had my blood drawn on July 13th 2010.  My total Cholesterol was 453, HDL 43 and LDL 355  Ouch… But wait it gets worse.  My liver profile, AST was 82 (normal is 15-41) and the ALT was 113 (normal is 30 – 65).  He wanted to do a liver biopsy.  Whoa, let’s stop this train.  I told him I was going to stop taking all the statin drugs.  Oh and he said, “by the way, you know you shouldn’t take Protonix forever.  It is meant to be a short term fix.”  Great now I have a bum liver and I’m not supposed to take the meds that settle my stomach.  Ok, I’ll do more blood work in 30-days. This was probably the worse day of my life.  I felt I was going to die and I just didn’t know what to do.  On the way home my phone rang and it was the Reiki Master I called a couple of weeks ago.  We made an appointment.

Two weeks off the Statin drug, I’m still in pain.  I go to see him again, he now puts me on Zetia and says suck it up.  The nurse, on the side of course, told me that Fosamax has the same side effects as the Statins regarding the joint pain.  So I take myself off that too.  Reiki is now a part of my life.  I signed up to take the Reiki I Class in August of 2010.

I became Reiki I certified on August 9th, the day before my 51st birthday.  I now practice self-Reiki every day and still see the Reiki Master for regular Reiki treatments.  They make me feel full, calm, relaxed and happy.

On August 18th 2010, more test results.  My total Cholesterol was 353, HDL 40 and LDL 274  WOW, taking myself off the meds and my cholesterol got better.  Weird…  My liver profile, AST was 59 (normal is 15-41) and the ALT was 74 (normal is 30 – 65).  Much better, at least it is going in the right direction.

He now knows I stopped taking all my medications and he is pissed.  He tells me I am going to fall and break my hip then die if I don’t listen and go back on the prescriptions.  Oh did I tell you, my pain in getting less and less every day.

September 2010:  I am on a mission to find an American born doctor that speaks English without an accent.  Didn’t I tell you, the doctor I was telling you about was from India and I could hardly understand him.  Anyway, I found an Osteopathic doctor.  She took lots of time to listen to me and agreed to work with me, not just push medicine on me.

September 21st 2010:  She didn’t do my cholesterol as she felt my liver should be my first worry.  My liver profile, AST was now 37 (normal is 15-41) and the ALT was 63 (normal is 30 – 65).  Finally, my liver is in the normal range.  Tests for food allergy and Celiac disease are next.

I added Yoga to my weekly self-healing.  It makes me feel relaxed and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

On December 31st 2010, my husband and I went to see the local Youngevity distributers in the area.  We signed up on the spot.  They sent us home with all we needed to get started and ordered replacements for themselves so we didn’t have to wait for a delivery.

January 12th 2011:  The test for Celiac was negative, but I was found to be allergic to wheat, milk, peanuts and strawberries.  Wow, I never expected to see this. I told her about Reiki and Youngevity and the fact that I will not take any more medicine.  She was okay with what I am doing, but wants to retest in three months.  She is also going to add some other foods to be allergy tested for.

February 2011: I completed my Reiki II training and I am now a Reiki Practitioner.  I also started meditation, in group led meditation and alone meditation.

March 15th and 16th we go to see Dr. Glidden from Youngevity speak at a two-day seminar.  I was able to speak to him personally and he gave me some pointers.  I have “leaky gut”  yuck, that sounds terrible.   But he has me diluting the minerals I am taking over a longer period of time to get the best absorption possible.   My knees still crunch and so does my neck.  Therefore I feel the Gluco gel isn’t getting into my system.

February 2012: I have lost 35 lbs, still on the Youngevity supplements, live with my crazy diet of no wheat or milk products, I now take ZERO perscription drugs, and I practice regular self-reiki with over 350 completed Reiki Sessions under my belt. I feel ready to take the next step and complete the Reiki III Master Training. I am on a waiting list.
